Yes, I Remember
Remember, when our country was attacked, and we knew who did it? ~ Pass the Gas: Professional Instigator from the last thread
Well vividly do I remember hearing about a plane accidentally hitting the WTC on that morning. Thinking maybe this might possibly be just an accident. Then about an hour later hearing that more planes had crashed into the other tower and the Pentagon. Then getting that nauseating feeling that we had just been under a coordinated attack. I was at work and I had to listen to the news on a radio, while I tried to concentrate on my job, but then I heard that one of the towers had fallen...and that minute my world outlook changed forever. I got that lump in my throat and felt like I had been raped and robbed. I walked outside my office and searched the skies looking for more human guided fuel-air explosives. Checking the skyline of Dallas to make sure the buildings I helped build were all still there, and noticing how eerily quite the normaly continuous DFW air traffic pattern was.
I remember hearing that a plane was headed for the White House and thinking that George Bush would have to be constitutionally restrained from extracting executive revenge on the Muslim world if they killed his wife in their home. By this time my phone was ringing with my wife wanting to know if our kids were safe in their school. That time, I knew they were,
WHAT ABOUT NEXT TIME.
But the thing I remember most Pass, was that we did
NOT know who to retaliate against. Everyone suspected it was Islamic Terrorist, but our politicians and the media were forced to exercise political correctness until domestic terrorism could be 100% ruled out. We did not know whom to wipe of the face of the planet. If the Russians had launched a coordinated attack like that on American cities twenty years earlier, Ronnie would have opened THE briefcase, and our revenge rush would have come within minutes. But no, we did not know whom to attack this time. No government took credit this time, and none ever will in the future.
Any
“Random Arab Country” would have been a good place to start, because it isn’t the governments that are attacking us,
It’s the Religiously Brainwashed Islamic Society that has been taught that it is their duty to rid the planet of us evil infidels that drive Islamic Terrorism. No government has now, nor ever will exercise total control over radical Islam. That’s why the “Moderate Cleric” scoffed at regional reform the other day. The Holy Men currently wield all the real power in the region. Look at the role we have LET Sistani play in Iraq. Not just financial power do they wield, but power over the minds of their oppressed followers. Islam has been violently spreading across Africa and Asia for 700 years, and its illiterate (to all books but the Quran) soldiers of religion are much more zealous in their defense of Islam, than we are towards our children’s future safety. And we will never be able to stop it until we have the political will to point out the real enemy to our own current events illiterate, liberal media driven, care free populace who are too busy “lovin livin” while ideologically drunk on the prosperity their politically un-correct ancestors have provided for them.
No Pass, al-qaeda is not our only enemy. Capturing or killing Osama and everybody he has ever met will not change our destiny. AQ is only one of endless military wings of Islam. Using conventional weapons against Islam’s brainwashed followers will never make a dent in the clerics self-replicating supply of pawns. And the only way to increase our future safety other than physically eliminating every potential follower is to reduce Islam’s influence over his or her daily lives, and over their historic pattern of irrationality. This culture of humans are doomed to continue to give their minds to the hate spewing clerics as long as every other aspect of their lives are dominated by poverty, oppression, corruption, and only learning about other cultures what they are taught in the cleric controlled madrasses.
Iraq was not a randomly chosen country. Afghanistan was the first military step in a broad plan to increase our future safety by reducing the root causes that make the Middle East a breeding ground for suicidal sheep. Afghanistan was the last known hiding place of the man who’s face we had associated with terror, and his supporting government was a scourge of hard-line Islamic killers that had run out of international supporters. But in reality Pakistan’s tribal agencies, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Yemen, and Egypt would have all been legitimate targets if you were really looking to militarily defeat every concentration of jihadi in the region. But that would essentially involve violating the sovereignty of enough nations to scare EVERY other self-governed nation in the world.
So the non-military portion of the plan involved reforming the region, but…..Where to start? Takeout the Iranian Theocracy when they appeared to be possibly on the road to internally generated reform already. Saudi Arabia, well the leaders were kissing our ass and pretending to be our partner in the war on terror already. Pakistan, well overthrowing a nuclear deterrent possessing government changes the odds somewhat. Subjecting our soldiers to a nuclear attack takes a whole other level of political courage. No, we needed to start the reform process in a country that had previously experienced a somewhat non-dictatorial form of government, where the people have been subject to a somewhat relatively advanced secular education, and a nation that had the natural resources to sustain a prosperous middle-class. And what do you know, we just happened to have such a society currently living under the brutal oppression of an irrational dictator who had been in violation of UN cease-fire agreements. The same one who had attempted to build a reactor, used poison gas against the villages of his own citizens, and attacked 2 of his neighbors. Iraq would be the best place to start the reform process, and surely no one could complain about us bringing Democracy and Freedom to Saddams oppressed populace.
Well, it turns out their were some objectors. France, Germany, and Russia had been hoping to further their own lucrative contracts with the oppressive regime they had been doing during the UN embargo. China was against anything we were for. And as soon as Saddam was out of the way, the religious leaders in Iraq saw an opportunity for Theocracy, and every other government in the region was glad to facilitate and re-focus their internal religiously inspired human threats to their regimes, attention towards the Americans, that could now be killed without crossing a large body of water. Which really in the long run kept us from having to invade their own countries to kill them, as now they were coming to where we could use Marine Snipers and Spectras against them without crossing another border.
Now lets see…who else beside our foreign enemies had a problem with us attempting to bring freedom and democracy to Iraq…Oh yea…it was the large percentage of the American populace that was associated with the political party currently out of executive power. The same ones that had instigated the embarrassing re-re-counting of votes in Florida in 2000. The same ones that changed the rules on electing congressmen in New Jersey so they could maintain corrupt power. The same ones that had fled my state in a childish attempt to prevent having congressional districts here gerrymandered in a way that didn’t favor them for the first time since reconstruction. The same ones that are using their influence with local government employees to help keep Nader off the ballot in many states. You know, the political party that our simpler mind controlling liberal media is slanting all their coverage and commenting in favor of. The same political party that allowed Terrorist to openly practice training for the current war out in the open camps of Afghanistan.
In the first days and weeks after the horrible attacks on our country we seemed united as a people. I would let a liberal cut in front of me because I realized we were on the same side in this life or death struggle. The media and the Democrats went along with the administration’s plans to attack Iraq because they were not yet prepared to advertise their partisan agenda in such a patriotic environment. But now that executive power is at stake, they have no moral objection to dragging this country through the mud with a self-righteous grip on the current administration’s testicles. And judging our plan at reforming the region by the using the irrelevant issues of well hidden WMDs and mild cases of humiliation as reasonable cause for their acts of treason, when the real reason is simply blind partisan hatred.
No Pass, and the slice of our populace you represent here and in our nation, will not be able to see the logic in any of the facts I have mentioned here, and are by the time you get to this portion of my posts already searching for some illogical justification to ignore these truths.
